Our isa certified arborist service

Most tree work in Dallas–Fort Worth is done by tree cutters, not arborists. The distinction matters: an ISA Certified Arborist has passed a rigorous 200-question exam administered by the International Society of Arboriculture, maintained continuing education hours, and signed onto a code of ethics that says, in essence, your tree's biology comes first.

At Tree Care Pros, every diagnosis is performed or supervised by an ISA Certified Arborist. We don't sell removals our customers don't need. We don't top trees. We don't recommend treatments for diseases your tree doesn't have. We diagnose, we prescribe, and we document everything in writing so you can hold us to it.

  • On-site tree health assessments
  • Risk evaluation & TRAQ-style reports
  • Pre-construction tree protection planning
  • Expert witness & consulting reports
  • Long-term plant health care programs

What isa certified arborist solves

Suspect tree disease

Yellow leaves, dieback, fungus on the trunk, sap weeping — a certified arborist tells you what's actually wrong before you spend on the wrong treatment.

Pre-construction tree protection

Buying land or remodeling? An ISA Certified Arborist writes the Tree Protection Plan most DFW cities now require for permits.

Property value & sale

Realtors, attorneys, and buyers increasingly ask for a credentialed arborist report on heritage trees. We provide them.

Insurance & dispute claims

Storm damage, neighbor tree disputes, HOA challenges — a Certified Arborist's written report carries the weight your case needs.

Hazard tree assessment

Is that big oak over your roof actually dangerous? We use the TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification) framework to give you a real answer.

Our process

How we approach isa certified arborist

1

Phone or web intake

Tell us what you're seeing and we'll schedule a visit, usually within 24–48 hours.

2

On-site walk

An ISA Certified Arborist walks your property with you, asks about history, and inspects each tree of concern.

3

Targeted diagnostics

Where needed, we collect leaf, twig, or soil samples for lab analysis. We do NOT guess at disease IDs.

4

Written report

You get a clear, plain-English report: what we found, what it means, what we recommend, what it will cost.

5

No-pressure follow-up

We answer your questions. If you'd rather do nothing or hire someone else, that's fine. The visit is still free.

What drives the price

  • Number of trees being assessed
  • Whether lab samples are needed (small extra fee per sample)
  • Whether a formal written report is required (e.g., for permits or court)
  • Travel distance — DFW core is included; outlying counties may have a small visit fee

Mistakes to avoid

What you should NOT do

  • Don't accept verbal diagnoses on a sales call — get it in writing.
  • Don't pay for treatment before someone has actually examined your tree.
  • Don't top your tree — it shortens its life and creates hazard sprouts.
  • Don't seal pruning cuts with tar or paint, except for oak wilt prevention during the wrong season.
  • Don't pile mulch against the trunk ("mulch volcano"). It kills bark from suffocation.
After the work

What to expect

After your arborist visit, you'll know exactly what's going on with your trees, what (if anything) needs to be done, and what fair pricing looks like. About 30% of our visits end with us telling the homeowner the tree is healthy and no work is needed.

If you wait

The risks of not addressing this

Without a credentialed diagnosis, homeowners routinely (a) pay for tree removal that wasn't necessary, (b) pay for disease treatment for the wrong disease, or (c) lose heritage trees to issues that could have been treated if caught early. The cost of a free arborist visit versus the cost of a wrong decision isn't close.

FAQ

ISA Certified Arborist questions answered

What's the difference between a tree service and a certified arborist?

A tree service cuts trees. An ISA Certified Arborist is credentialed to diagnose tree health and biology. The same company can do both — we do — but the certified arborist always leads the diagnosis.

Is your visit really free, even if I don't hire you?

Yes. We've been doing this since 1999 and our model has always been: free assessment, written report, you decide. Most of our customers come back when they actually need work.

Do you do residential AND commercial?

Yes. HOAs, property managers, churches, schools, golf courses, ranches — we work on properties of every scale across DFW.

Can you write a report for a city permit?

Yes. Most DFW municipalities accept reports from ISA Certified Arborists for tree-removal permits, construction reviews, and tree protection plans.

How long does an arborist visit take?

30–90 minutes for residential, longer for commercial or multi-tree properties. We don't rush.

Can I get a same-day visit?

For emergencies (storm damage, immediate hazard), yes. For routine assessments, we typically book within 2 business days.

Do you give a quote at the visit or send one later?

We do both. Simple jobs get a verbal-then-written quote on the spot. Complex ones we send within 24 hours after we've worked the numbers and confirmed crew availability.

Are you bonded and insured?

Yes — general liability and workers compensation, both well above the industry minimum. Documentation available on request.
